Summary:

Coach Gene Dales grew up in Tacoma, Washington and graduated from Bellarmine Prep High School.  Soon after, he was a starting linebacker at Oregon State for three years.  This experience and education at OSU allowed him to establish a career teaching high school and coaching football that has spanned the last 29 years.  Coach Dales has had the honor of coaching three Arizona All State teams, two All Star teams which played in Australia, as well as the 2005 Washington All State team.

He married his wife, Jackie, in 1990 while living in Portland, Oregon, after which they moved to Phoenix, Arizona where they lived for 11 years.  During this time he received a Masters of Education at Arizona State.  Along with Jackie and their two daughters Danielle 14, and Taylor 12, Coach Dales returned to the Northwest six years ago to be closer to family and coach with former Oregon State teammate and friend, Steve Gervais.  In roles as the head coach or defensive coordinator, Coach Dales has lead teams to the state playoffs 18 of the past 22 years, three of those teams having played in the state championship game.

Coach Dales teaches physical education, weight training and wellness classes here at Eastlake.  In his spare time he enjoys being with his family, golfing, traveling, cooking and napping.  The week-long preparation which culminates in Friday Night’s
execution is the thrill and challenge which continues to spark Coach Dales’ love for the game.

Summary:

This is Coach Bartel’s third year at Eastlake as Defensive Coordinator coaching defensive backs and wide receivers following three coaching assignments over the past eleven football seasons.  From 1997-2002, he coached at Kentlake H.S. in the South Puget Sound League where the newly formed program reached the post-season in three of their first five years, with Coach Bartel coaching wide receivers, coordinating the passing game, and fulfilling his duties as head baseball coach.  In 2002, he left Kentlake for a job at Skyline H.S. coaching the  secondary with then Defensive Coordinator and current Eastlake Head Coach, Gene Dales.  At the end of that summer, Coach Bartel accepted a position as defensive assistant with the Washington State University football program working with defensive backs.  After completing his tenure at WSU on the offensive side of the football - - working with both quarterbacks and wide receivers, Coach Bartel had coached in two bowl games (Rose Bowl versus Oklahoma in 2003 and the Holiday Bowl victory over the University of Texas the following December) and assisted the Cougars in compiling a 25-12 record and winning a Pac-10 Championship. He is extremely excited about his newest opportunity at Eastlake working with his friend Coach Dales, a great staff, and dedicated athletes.

Coach Bartel grew up in Orting, Washington, graduated from Orting High School and attended Central Washington University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English.  Most recently, he earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration with an emphasis in Sports Management from WSU.  In the future, he hopes to attain a Ph.D. in educational leadership or sports management.

Summary:

This is Coach Bloomhuff’s seventh season with EHS football.  He founded the Northville Football Association in Michigan in 1967, an organization which continues to introduce the sport to hundreds of young people each year.  Coach Bloomhuff came out of retirement eight years ago to coach at Evergreen Junior High for one year and 6 years with the Eastlake Wolves. 

During the Korean War, he flew in US Navy patrol bombers.  He is now retired and lives on the Baja Peninsula in Mexico, but spends football season with the Eastlake Wolves. In the Wolves off-season, he coaches the San Felipe Tiburones (Sharks) an American football team in Baja.

Summary:

This is Coach Huebner’s third season at Eastlake as Strength and Conditioning Coach.  He is a  Personal Trainer  at  PRO  Sports  Club  in  Bellevue  and  specializes in sports performance training.  Huebner has 12 years experience in the health and fitness industry working with all ages and skill types, including high school and professional athletes. 

Coach Huebner was a Receiver  for two state  runner-up  football  teams  from Puyallup High.  He holds an Exercise Science degree from Pacific Lutheran University and was a member of the 1993 NAIA National Championship Football Team.  He lives in Duval with his wife Sara, a graduate of Eastlake.

Summary:

Coach Johnson is from Vancouver Washington and attended Columbia River High  School  where  he   played  for  current  Auburn  High  School  coach  Gordon Elliot.  Coach Johnson  attended PLU in Tacoma and it is then  that  he started his coaching career.  He coached for 3 years at Bethel High School, under Mark Torgerson, coaching the offensive line.  Coach Johnson then followed him to Kentlake and coached there for 5 years, full time, and helped out on game days for 3 years.  He loves coaching the line  because it is where the game is won or lost and no one ever really sees how hard the kids work.   Coach  Johnson  has  worked  for  the  last  twelve years at  Microsoft  as a software test lead.  He is very active in his church in Redmond. 

Coach Johnson’s other hobbies include rugby, both playing and now coaching a women's team that took 13th in the nation in 2005 and his true passion which is fly fishing — especially for steelhead.

Coach Linker is excited to join the Wolves staff this year following 19 years varsity coaching at Mercer Island High School. At Mercer Island, Coach Linker had the benefit of working with Head Coach Dick Nicholl, a Washington State Hall of Fame inductee. During Coach Linker’s tenure at Mercer Island he led the Varsity offense as line coach and was offensive coordinator.

Coach Linker grew up in Sumner, Washington and graduated from Sumner High School. After High School Coach Linker played football at Washington State University for two years, then transferred to the University of Puget Sound where he played two more years. After graduating from UPS with a degree in Special Education, Coach Linker was drafted by the NFL. After a short season with the Dallas Cowboys he returned to Washington and settled down with his wife Shannon of 26 years. As a Lieutenant in the Seattle Fire Department Coach Linker has the luxury of spending time in his real passion; coaching and influencing young men through football.

In addition to football, Coach Linker enjoys family time with his three daughters Abby and son-in-law Marco, Allison, and Averee. Family time often involves watching or going to sporting events, music, cooking, golfing, camping and gardening.

Summary:

Coach Seeley has been married 24 years to his wife Margarita.  They have three children.  Tawnia is graduating this December from the University of Missouri School of Journalism with an emphasis in advertising.  Justin is a Sophomore at the University of Arizona and Rachel is a Senior at Eastlake. 

Coach Seeley has his own law firm in Bellevue.  He completed  his undergraduate study at the University of Washington and attended law school at the University of Utah.  He played receiver while at the U-Dub, enjoying two Rose Bowl appearances.  Go Dawgs!

He also enjoys coaching varsity fastpitch softball.”  This is his ninth year coaching football, the last six at Eastlake.  Coaching affords him the opportunity to help teach young people to become passionate and confident about the challenges they will face now and in the future.

Summary:
Steve returns to Eastlake this year after spending the last 2 seasons with the Interlake Saints assisting the infamous Luke Huard. Steve previously coached at Eastlake from 1999 through 2004. Steve became the Defensive Coordinator in 2000 and in 2001 helped Eastlake win their first 4A Kingco Championship, going 9-0 that year. This will be Steve’s 22nd year coaching high school football. Steve started his football coaching career at Fresno High School in his home town of Fresno, California and has coached at various highs schools in California and Washington. Steve is married to his lovely wife Cathy and they have two children; their son Sean played football at Eastlake from 2002-2004 (class of 2005); their daughter Shannon is a junior this year at Eastlake. Steve has been a teacher at Eastlake since 1995 and teaches Resource and Physical Education classes.
